About Brooks

The FOX 35 Storm Team, Orlando

FOX 35 Orlando Senior Meteorologist on Good Day Orlando, weekday mornings.

Teamwork in the Storm

While I’m often the face viewers see during severe weather, none of it happens without the skilled team behind the scenes — from producers and floor directors to photographers and technical staff. In every high-stakes moment, I rely on their quick thinking and precision to help execute live coverage that can truly save lives. I take pride working in lockstep with these dedicated professionals. I’m deeply thankful for their trust, effort, and heart in the storm.

This homeowner credited my TV coverage of the tornado on March 10, 2025 with saving her life, after hearing me mention her specific street, prompting her to leap into the safety of a closet just seconds before a large oak tree crashed through the window she’d been standing by.

Career

With over 20 years in TV weather — all of those years in severe weather markets — I bring deep forecasting experience, calm under pressure, and a passion for public service during high-impact events. I hold dual certifications from both the AMS and NWA, and I’m represented by BGA Talent.

Following national and international coverage of the now-viral “TV Station Tornado,” I’ve continued to advocate for science-driven, team-supported live weather coverage. I was recognized in Philadelphia Magazine for my Hurricane Sandy reporting, as the only TV meteorologist who flew with the NOAA Hurricane Hunters into that historic storm. I’ve provided expert analysis for global outlets including the BBC (notably during Hurricane Harvey), and my work has been published in the AMS Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.

Beyond the green screen, I contribute to the future of broadcast meteorology as a member of the AMS CBM Exam Committee, and yes — I even played a weatherman in a Hollywood film (My Own Love Song, 2010).

None of these moments happened alone — behind every broadcast is a team of dedicated pros who make the mission possible. I’m proud to lead, collaborate with, and learn from them every day.

My Foundation

Brooks Garner and his family

My family is my greatest accomplishment, and I’m so proud of all of my children. My wife is incredible and has been a constant source of strength and support throughout my career and life. We’ve been together for over a decade and are fully immersed in the adventure (and cyclone) of raising a full house.

That spirit of endurance and shared purpose isn’t new for me. In my youth, I biked across the entire U.S. — coast to coast — pedaling 100+ miles a day for seven weeks from Virginia Beach to Los Angeles, with 60 pounds of gear strapped to my bike. That journey taught me teamwork, perseverance, and the value of finishing what I start — lessons that continue to shape how I approach both career and family life today.
