National Media
This section highlights national media coverage that followed a rare live television emergency during severe weather coverage in Orlando. While on the air, a tornado struck our TV station. I helped lead real time communication across the newsroom while maintaining continuous, clear messaging to the public as the storm impacted the building and surrounding area.
The broadcast was rebroadcast worldwide, earning two Emmy Awards in 2025 and coverage from People Magazine, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.
That coverage led to an invitation to guest host the Season 3 Premiere of Discovery Channel’s In the Eye of the Storm, where the event was examined within the broader context of a month of extreme weather affecting communities across the country.
